I first participated in Earth Hour (a campaign initiated by WWF) a couple of years ago, when I was living and working in Sydney, Australia.
I remember turning out all the lights in my apartment and using as little electricity as possible for one hour (7:30-8:30pm). It was a weird feeling to sit in the dark, but it was also a thought-provoking exercise. Made me so much more aware of environmental and energy-consumption issues. If every individual did their part (however small) to conserve energy resources, it would make a big difference eventually.
