Sugarbush

On 14 March 2009, I went along on the field trip to the Proulx Sugarbush Farm that LCB Ottawa organised. It was most informative, and best of all, a lot of fun!

I have always loved maple syrup. In fact, I prefer the taste of it to honey. Back in Australia, I used to buy imported maple syrup all the time. This time, I was glad to have had the opportunity to visit a sugarbush farm and to see how maple syrup was produced.

Fact: It takes 40 litres of raw maple sap collected from the maple trees to be boiled and made into 1 litre of maple syrup that you can buy from the supermarket. It is no wonder maple syrup is not cheap, but I don't mind paying the price at all.

Here is the link to some really nice photos taken by the LCB Ottawa photographer.

I am in a couple of the photos. If you know who I am, you'd be able to spot me.
